Paddling America
Ever wonder if there's a way to kayak or canoe from coast to coast. Well, yes and no.
Most of the Way
No, you cannot launch in California and pull out in Florida--touching water the whole time. But you can paddle most of the way. And that's just what I'm planning to do, and document in my proposed blog: "Paddling America."
Proposed Blog Structure
I plan to devote a series of posts to each of my many paddling trips spanning our entire country. My initial series will be about paddling through Maine, and my final series about paddling through Washington state.
Post Highlights
In each series, I plan on addressing the following:
- Preparation (scouting, mapping, outfitting, funding, portage, etc.)
- Nourishment (physical and spiritual)
- Sights and sounds along the way
- Conclusions
- Tips for fellow paddlers
Concerns
While I've spent many an hour in my kayak, I am concerned that I may not have the stamina to continue this project through all of the states and trips necessary to get from coast to coast.
